A Rainbow in your Birthday Bread

Their eyes widened in an instant, like that would make them see better - they needed to be to sure it was real. Their mouths were opened just a little - but they couldn't speak, they were thinking, "What is this stuff?". But they were excited and when the instant was over they were loud, excited, licking their lips in anticipation...

An this thing, what was it?... well... it was a loaf of bread! Not any bread though. It was bright, like a really bright cake, but not a cake. One slice of bread tasted like any slice of bread, soft, fresh, but not sweet like it looked. Put on a little vegemite and they screwed up their noses with sensory overload - it looked like it should be sweet but it was salty. But put on some sprinkles and it was the best ever.

I love this idea for a party - fairy bread like no other, different, exciting but otherwise just the same. Thanks Old Fernvale Bakery, Brisbane.
